About the team
The purpose of the Certification Team is to support prospective B Corps in their journey to becoming B Corps, support current B Corps in keeping their B Corp Certification in good standing through recertification. This team works together with each other and with B Lab Global to develop systems, processes and resources for prospective B Corps and B Corps successfully complete each of the tasks required to become or remain a B Corp. The purpose of the Growth Team is to support aspiring B Corps on their journey to become B Corps. The Growth Team sells the B Corp Certification to prospective B Corps through account management and scaled engagement opportunities. The Growth Team is accountable to achieving specific revenue and community growth goals and for investing in programs and pilots that increase the impact of our offerings for aspiring B Corps.
About this opportunity
The Associate Director of Growth is responsible for leading all new certifications in US & Canada. This critical leadership role ensures that staff meet both strategic and revenue goals, ensuring the growth of the B Corp movement. In this role, the Associate Director of Growth will collaborate with the Director of Growth & Customer Success to develop year over year growth strategy & planning and will lead on ensuring that strategy is executed and managed through mobilizing teammates and refining the business case narrative for B Corp Certification and other products & programs the team sells. In addition, The Associate Director of Growth is accountable to growing, cultivating, and closing the pipeline of influential B Corp prospects. The Associate Director holds an ambitious revenue and representation quota and drives a portfolio of influential prospects through to B Corp Certification.
Role zero:
- Incorporate an equity lens in growth tactics, programs and communications (eg. ensuring policies serve Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) community and other underrepresented community members and are well communicated)
- Maintain information and accountability systems for growth
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
New Certifications for US & Canada (25%)
- Work with Director of Customer Success & Growth on development of annual sales strategy and planning of tactics and KPIs
- Lead the growth team to ensure staff are contributing to achieve annual revenue targets and other KPIs
- Lead the development and execution of an outbound sales plan
1:1 Sales & Account Management (40%)
- Engage mid to large-sized companies in the B Corp certification process, including converting outbound leads, responding to in-bound inquiries, supporting the development of a business case and project plan and driving to close
- Engage BIPOC-owned and led companies in the B Corp process and support them in understanding the why & how of B Corp Certification
- Mentor junior and mid-level teammates on account management and sales approach
Business Development Narrative + Resource Development (25%)
- Lead on updating value proposition narrative for B Corp Certification in the US & Canada, leveraging B Lab network certification resources and customizing for our market and ensuring relevance for large, influential and BIPOC-owned businesses
- In conjunction with the certification team and across departments, create resources to inspire and educate companies in their B Corp journey like value proposition decks and one pagers incorporating current market trends in
- ESG and impact and how it relates to Certified B Corps
**10% of time allotted to adjacent projects
About You
- A minimum 8 years experience in roles directly related to business development, sales, or account management
- Experience managing a sales pipeline
- Expert understanding of corporate responsibility, ESG, and overall trends and research around best practices around social & environmental impact
- Organized with an ability to guide a team to stay focused on goals
- Proven ability to meet revenue targets while meeting strategic goals
- Proven communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Goal-oriented and driven to see prospects through to close
- Ability to manage and support others, including ongoing coaching and professional development
- Team player and ability to work and lead collaboratively with a dispersed team
- Strategic thinking and creative problem solving
- Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM
- Comfort in an entrepreneurial environment
For success in this role, the ideal candidate will have experience:
- Developing and managing teams through a period of growth, with successful results
- Working globally, virtually, and across cultures to support B Lab's work around the world
- Working with or for private sector businesses, preferably in role relevant to corporate social responsibility and/or sustainability
Compensation Details
B Lab has a compensation plan that includes:
- An annual salary of $115,000 for candidates based in Oakland, CA
- Excellent health benefits package including access to medical, vision and dental coverage
- Paid time off for vacation - in your first year, you'll start with 15 days (prorated in a to your start date)
- Additional paid time off for holidays and organizational closures
- Paid sick leave
- 403(b) with a match of up to 3%
- Unlimited personal time
- After your first year of employment, 40 hours paid time off for community service; paid parental leave; and time and budget for your professional development (we assess this PD budget annually)
