The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center (UNMHSC) seeks a highly experienced Dissemination and Implementation Science(D&I) scientist at the associate or full professor level, to lead andadvance D&I science with a focus on UNMs Project Extension of CommunityHealth Outcomes (ECHO). Project ECHO is a nationally and globally recognizedleader for educating the health workforce, including community health workers,nurses, physician assistants, and physicians, for a range of health conditionsand health equity approaches. Inspired by the way clinicians learn from medicalrounds during residencies, the ECHO Model has evolved into a learningframework that applies across disciplines for sustainable and profound change.The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding the impact ofProject ECHO's mission to democratize medical knowledge and increase access tobest-practice care for underserved populations globally.

The Associate Director will be positioned in the newlyestablished Center for Advancing Dissemination and Implementation Science(CADIS) that serves the College of Population Health, School of Medicine,School of Nursing, and the College of Pharmacy. The CADIS works closely withthe Clinical and Translational Science Center, the NCI-designated ComprehensiveCancer Center and other centers and programs (https://hsc.unm.edu/research/centers-programs)across the HSC to advance pragmatic research and implementation scienceinitiatives and address the needs of rural and underserved urban communities.Depending on the candidates background and experience, the Associate Directorwill be a faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor or full Professorand will serve in a part-time capacity (0.5-0.8 FTE, negotiable) with theremaining FTE in the Candidates Department. Candidates hired into one of thefollowing colleges/schools could be considered for tenure track: College ofPopulation Health, College of Nursing, and the College of Pharmacy. Candidateshired into the School of Medicine will be placed on a Research Track.

Key responsibilities:

Provide visionary leadership to advance the science of dissemination and implementation within the context of Project ECHOs initiatives

Develop and implement a strategic plan for D&I research with a focus on Project ECHO in alignment with the current educational and clinical systems research

Design, oversee, and conduct high-impact D&I research projects, including the development of grant proposals and securing external funding.

Ensure research projects are aligned with Project ECHOs mission and goals, leveraging data to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes

Collaborate with academic institutions, healthcare providers, policymakers, and community organizations, to promote and enhance D&I research with a focus on Project ECHO

Mentor, train and teach to faculty, staff, and students in the appointed Department and across the UNM HSC

Minimum Qualifications:

A doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, ScD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent) in clinical medicine, public health, implementation science, health services research, or a related field.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in D&I research, preferably within a healthcare or academic setting.

Proven track record of securing external research funding and

Publishing record in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals

Strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing and mentoring research teams

Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with underserved populations and addressing health disparities

Proven track record of securing external research funding in D&I research

Publishing D&I research in in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals

Familiarity with Project ECHOs model and mission

Previous research experience using Project ECHO

Salary Information:
The salary is based on the terminal degree, title, and yearsof experience. Salary is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package,which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off.
