About the Job
Global investment management firm seeks an Associate Director,Deal & Insurance Advisory for its Los Angeles based headquarters. Thisposition will focus on facilitating the structuring of private credit deals and assisting up/downstream functional teams with onboarding private credit deals. This position will work closely with investment professionals and various (senior) stakeholders across the firm to support and drive processes.
The will have a comprehensive understanding of the deal lifecycle of all asset classes (e.g., asset-backed financing, private credit, and real assets), and will communicate daily with investment teams and be able to independently contribute by having a thorough understanding of deal structures. This includes the understanding of deal economics, deal documentation, and the ability to transform key deal terms to appropriate accounting setup. This position will be involved in the end-to-end deal lifecycle; from deal pipeline tracking, to deal structuring, and pre- and post-close.
Primary Responsibilities
Ensure all unique and complex deals are structured in compliance with regulatory and US GAAP and STAT reporting requirements.
Understand deal documentation and translate key deal terms for entry into systems.
Support front/middle/back office teams to be able to record new, complex investments and transactions accurately and timely.
Identify opportunities to streamline and improve processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy.
Undertake special projects or initiatives under the wider investment accounting pillar as assigned by senior management. This may involve analyzing potential investments, implementing new accounting standards, system migrations and/or participating in strategic planning efforts.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Professional accounting qualification (CPA) preferred.
5+ years of relevant work experience in public accounting or in industry with an investment accounting and/or investment structuring role.
Considered to be a SME that can dive into and quickly resolve any issues/anomalies relating to income, amortization/accretion, book value changes, and cash flows.
Strong communication, organizational, and strong interpersonal skills; ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team ability to mentor and teach staff/senior accountants across all aspects of investment accounting functions (income, controls, analysis/review procedures).
Experience working with (senior) stakeholders, investment professionals and external clients.
