Job Description
The Associate Dean of the School of Nursing in the College of Health Sciences provides leadership and administrative oversight of the unit. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to collaborate, engage, and empower others, demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship, and advance important unit initiatives. The ability and commitment to provide leadership in cultivating a climate of respect and inclusiveness for students, staff, and faculty within the University is essential.
REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
● Working knowledge of administrative and instructional technology, including Microsoft Office Suite Products, Google Products, and learning management systems.
● Minimum of five (5) years of full-time experience teaching in a nursing program(s).
● Evidence of successful higher education leadership/administrative experience, including supervision of others and performance management preferred.
● Curriculum development and project management experience desired.
● Doctoral degree in nursing.
● Current rank of Associate Professor or Professor (internal candidate) or a record of academic achievement that would qualify the candidate for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (external candidate).
● Current unrestricted licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Indiana.
● Supervise Faculty (Full-time, Associate Adjunct, and Adjunct) and Staff within the School of Nursing

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
● Serves as a member of the CHS Leadership Team and collaborates on CHS- wide initiatives and activities.
● Serves as a liaison between the School of Nursing, CHS, and UIndy.
● Facilitates activities to address UIndy, CHS, and School of Nursing strategic plan initiatives, including assessment of outcomes.
● Oversight of School of Nursing strategic planning and assessment of program outcomes.
● Provide general oversight and management of all School of Nursing programs
● Maintains and develops policies for faculty, staff, and students within the School of Nursing.
● Provide leadership and work collaboratively with undergraduate and graduate program directors and program faculty to review, evaluate, and improve program curricula.
● Provide leadership and work collaboratively with undergraduate and graduate program directors to make admission decisions for students with positive criminal background checks and positive drug screens.
● Provide leadership and work collaboratively with undergraduate and graduate program directors on the administration of policies and procedures related to academic excellence and the success of students, faculty, and staff, as well as cultivating a supportive environment.
● Provide leadership in the recruitment, selection, onboarding, retention, promotion, and development of qualified faculty and staff, including performance appraisal and performance management.
● Recommends faculty for appointment, promotion and tenure, and when necessary, dismissal.
● Participates in the annual budget planning process for the School of Nursing budget, including operating and capital expenditures.
● Assesses unit needs and collaborates with the CHS Dean to develop and secure fiscal resources necessary to support these needs.
● Develop annual SON budget in collaboration with CHS Dean and administer ongoing oversight of budgetary expenses
● Support existing external academic-practice partnerships and seek new ones to strategically plan and develop new degree programs as opportunities arise.
● Work with a third-party vendor, Keypath, for account reconciliation as needed during the Keypath teachout.
● Seek sources of outside funding, such as grants, donations, contracts, or special program incentives to advance school priorities.
● Represents and promotes the School of Nursing to professional and community groups.
● Collaborate across disciplines, engage and empower multiple communities, and stimulate a sense of community among faculty, staff, and students.
● Advance the school, college, and university’s commitment to research and scholarship.
● Maintains curricular oversight and program leadership for the School of Nursing.
● Serve as the primary public voice of the School of Nursing in the local, regional, and state health care community, including but not limited to professional nursing organizations.
● Teaches selected course, conducts scholarly work, and provides institutional service consistent with areas of expertise as appropriate.
● Other duties as requested by the CHS Dean, Provost and/or University President.
● Follow the guidance and direction of supervisor(s).

● Perform employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies.
