Job Description:
As Associate Attorney – HR, you will serve as a trusted advisor and business partner to the human resources department in support of the broad organization. In this role, you will provide legal advice and opinions to human resources management on a wide range of matters while carrying out the legal department’s mission to contribute to The Boyd Group’s success.
Job Responsibilities:
- Researches and tracks human resources and employment-related laws and partners with the HR team to ensure compliance through appropriate policies/processes.
- Anticipates and mitigates compliance risk by educating and counseling internal clients
- Develops, drafts, and assists in implementing policies and procedures for a variety of human resources and employment-related legal issues
- Drafts responses to administrative agency charges, attorney correspondence, reports, and other litigation-related submissions
- Partners and liaises with outside counsel as needed and manages relevant external consultants
- Collaborate with human resources to mitigate risk and respond to business challenges and opportunities
- Partners with human resources to carry out education and training to raise awareness of human resources and employment-related legal issues
- Resolves disputes that arise in the operation of our business
- Managing litigation and pre-litigation matters
Education and/or Experience Required
- Juris Doctor, Law, from ABA accredited law school
- Admitted to the Illinois Bar
Required Skills/Abilities/Responsibilities
- At least 3 years combined experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department
- Experience working in a high performance team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of relevant United States employment laws and ability to assist in minimizing legal risk for the company
- Overall, broad knowledge of litigation and both federal and state employment laws
- Experience providing providing advice on legal risks associated with human resources matters
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage deadlines
- Ability to strike sensible and practical balance between legal risk and business needs
- Must be a team player and work well with all functions and at all levels
Other Requirements
- This position will report to Corporate Counsel and will be based out of The Boyd Group’s U.S. corporate head office in Chicago, IL or Elmhurst, IL.
- Expectation is for the successful candidate to be present in the office at least 3 days a week.
- The ability to travel up to 10% of the time in both the United States and Canada.
Compensation Details:
123,800.00 - 165,000.00 - 206,300.00 USD Annual Base
