Associate Attorney Position: Immediate Courtroom Exposure and Client Interaction
A regional civil litigation and collection law firm, headquartered in Iowa, is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team. The firm practices in multiple states, including those in the central and southern regions of the United States, and is looking for a licensed individual eager to grow within the organization.
What Makes This Role Unique:
- Experience Level: Ideal candidates will have 0-4 years of experience, though additional experience may be considered depending on background.
- Courtroom Exposure: The position offers immediate exposure to courtroom proceedings, providing opportunities for regular interaction with judges and attorneys.
- Hybrid Work Environment: The role involves a combination of in-office tasks and courthouse visits. The firm provides vehicles for travel to various courthouses.
- No Billable Hour Requirements: The firm does not impose billable hour requirements, and generally, there is no need to track time—this is a significant benefit for those accustomed to strict billing targets.
- Client Development: Associates are encouraged to obtain and manage their own clients in addition to the work assigned by the firm, with training provided to support this effort.
Key Responsibilities:
- Litigating and managing a variety of civil law matters, including creditor's rights, insurance subrogation, commercial contracts, and general civil litigation issues.
- Researching and developing legal theories and strategies for cases.
- Drafting, overseeing, and filing motions and written discovery.
- Preparing for trials, including coordinating witnesses and filing exhibits.
- Representing clients in court proceedings.
Qualifications:
- Ambitious, hard-working, intelligent, and confident, with strong motivation to succeed.
- Collaborative and efficient, with prior court experience and a solid understanding of courtroom procedures, rules of civil procedure, and rules of evidence.
- The ability and willingness to obtain additional state licenses is a plus.
Compensation: $65,000 - $95,000, depending on experience and background.
