Our law firm, a well-established and reputable firm in Illinois, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join our Workers' Compensation team. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 5 years of experience in handling workers' compensation cases. Job Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in workers' compensation claims, including initial consultations, claims management, settlement negotiations, and hearings.
- Handle cases from inception through resolution, with primary responsibility for legal research, drafting pleadings, discovery, motions, and other legal documents.
- Appear in workers' compensation hearings, depositions, and arbitrations as required.
- Provide counsel to clients regarding their legal rights, compensation benefits, medical treatment options, and the workers' compensation process.
- Manage a caseload of workers' compensation cases efficiently and in compliance with deadlines.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex cases, and assist with strategy development and case preparation.
- Maintain excellent client communication and provide updates on case progress.
- Stay current on developments in workers' compensation law, including relevant case law and legislative changes.
- Participate in settlement negotiations, preparing clients for mediations and settlement conferences.
- Perform legal research and draft motions, pleadings, discovery requests, and responses in a timely manner.
- Support the firm's overall goals and maintain a strong commitment to client service.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- 1 to 5 years of experience in workers' compensation law or a related field.
- Admission to the Illinois State Bar.
- Strong knowledge of Illinois Workers' Compensation law and procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively advocate for clients.
- Strong legal research and writing abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and priorities effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
