Job Details
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 5-7 years of civil litigation experience, with a demonstrated ability to manage all phases of the litigation process independently or as part of a team.
- Prior experience in insurance defense or medical malpractice defense, including knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar
- A proven ability to conduct comprehensive case evaluations, including analyzing medical records, expert reports, and client documentation to identify key legal and factual issues.
- Experience drafting and responding to complex pleadings, motions, and discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for admission, and depositions.
- Strong skills in taking and defending depositions, particularly of medical professionals, expert witnesses, and other key case parties.
- Proficiency in developing and executing case strategies, including creating persuasive arguments and negotiating favorable settlements when appropriate.
- Expertise in representing clients at mediation, arbitration, and other alternative dispute resolution (ADR) proceedings to achieve timely and cost-effective resolutions.
- A track record of handling courtroom litigation, including preparing and presenting oral arguments, examining witnesses, and managing trial exhibits.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues, and support staff to deliver exceptional legal service and build strong client relationships.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and concepts, enabling clear communication with experts and understanding of complex medical evidence.
- Proficiency in using legal practice management tools and technology for efficient case tracking, document preparation, and client communication.
- A commitment to staying current with changes in medical malpractice law and insurance defense trends through ongoing legal education and professional development.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment while maintaining attention to detail.
