Job Details
This position is for an Associate Attorney on our Workers' Compensation team.
Responsibilities:
- Litigating cases before the workers' compensation division
- Be able to manage cases from inception through discovery and trial preparation
- Taking depositions of the claimant, witnesses, physicians, medical experts, and other parties
- Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, opinions, appeals, contracts, and other legal documents
- Gathering evidence and obtaining medical records for trial
- Remaining current with developments in the law
- Negotiating legal contract terms on behalf of clients and presenting arguments and counterarguments in court
- Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
- Must be to support existing and new clients
Requirements
- Illinois or Indiana license preferred
- Minimum of 2-3 years in a law firm workers comp environment; Personal Injury a plus
- Extensive knowledge of the State and Federal rules and regulations
- Must be able to grapple with large caseloads and multitask multiple priorities and deadlines
