Associate Attorney - Construction - JW Michaels & Co. LLC

The ideal candidate will manage litigation cases and resolve legal disputes on behalf of clients by developing agreements, negotiating contacts, setting claims and advocating for clients in court. This individual will build client relationships and provide an excellent customer experience for clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal support to clients and assist attorneys
• Maintain client relationships
• Prepare legal reports and documents
• Review, draft, and negotiate construction contracts (with customers, subcontractors, and vendors)
• Review and negotiate commercial leases
• Communicate with employees, subcontractors, vendors, and landlords

Qualifications

• Must have 7+ years of Construction Law experience (either transactional or litigation relating to contract negotiation or preparation/litigation of delay claims)
• Significant prior experience drafting and negotiating commercial leases
• Possess strong interpersonal skills
• Highly skilled legal writing capabilities
• Degree from an ABA Accredited law school and strong academic credentials
• Licensed to practice law in the State of New York
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Self-starter, and able to work independently
• Must be able to work in-person from our office on a full-time basis
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong legal knowledge
