Job Description

The AVP of Mission and Director of The Damietta Center leads the development and implementation of proactive cross-cultural initiatives in support of Siena College's Mission and strategic vision to build a community strengthened through diversity, where members work together in friendship and respect, committed to building a world that is more just, peaceable, and humane.

By planning, developing and overseeing experiential training opportunities, interactive dialogues, and celebratory events, the AVP through the Damietta Center, collaborates across campus to foster a culture of dialogue with people from different religious and cultural traditions in light of the Catholic intellectual heritage and Catholic social teaching in conversation with contemporary experience; providing ample opportunities for civil discourse that affirms the dignity of the individual while pursuing the common good.

Annual Salary: $ 78,680.00

Job Requirements

A Master's degree in social justice, post-secondary education, sociology, social anthropology, public administration, human resource management, or another related field. Experience performing the duties described above may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. Four years of experience strengthening a community through diversity where members work together in friendship and respect, committed to building a world that is more just, peaceable and humane.

Additional Information

Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Partner with campus administrators, faculty, students, staff, and internal and external constituencies to ensure programing, policies, and procedures that support the college's core values and strategic goals.
2. Lead the development and implementation of proactive cross-cultural initiatives in support of Siena College's Mission and strategic vision to build a community strengthened through diversity, where members work together in friendship and respect, committed to building a world that is more just, peaceable, and humane.
3. Plan, develop and oversee experiential training opportunities, interactive dialogues, and celebratory events, 
4. Foster a culture of dialogue with people from different religious and cultural traditions in light of the Catholic intellectual heritage and Catholic social teaching in conversation with contemporary experience; 
5. Provide ample opportunities for civil discourse affirming the dignity of the individual while pursuing the common good.
6. Provide training initiatives on hiring (faculty, staff & administrators) for diversity, cultural competency, gender differences, building a climate of equity and inclusion, and other topics designed to increase awareness and support of equity and inclusion values.
7. Engage faculty, staff, administrators, and students to foster a welcoming and inclusive culture at Siena College through cross cultural celebratory events.
8. In both the hiring and retention processes for FSA, promote the College's commitment to a climate of equity, diversity, and inclusion through interaction with the leaders, supervisory staff, employees, students, and the community.
9. Represent the College to external community, organizations, and agencies. 
10. Collaborate with external and internal constituency groups to promote and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
11. Supervise student staff and interns. 
12. Manage the Damietta Center budget, including developing budget proposals, justifying expenses and monitoring accounts.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Benefits

Siena College offers a generous benefit package to eligible full-time employees. The benefit package currently includes a retirement plan contribution equal to 10% of an eligible participant's compensation (as defined under the plan) after meeting the plan's eligibility requirements, and tuition reimbursement and exchange opportunities for eligible employees, spouses, and dependents.
