We are currently looking for an Assistant Technical Designer to join our team in Miami, FL!
SUMMARY
Assists a Technical Designer with managing the technical life for their brand(s) from conception to production to delivery to ensure it stays true to the designer’s vision. Responsible for assisting the day to day functions of the Technical Design Department
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists/revises technical specification packages in PLM to maintain standard block measurements and construction requirements of a brand.
- Evaluates photo, fit, PP samples: measurements, construction. Input formal written and visual comments in Web PDM, PLM for the vendors to understand how to proceed with production.
- Assists/conducts live model fitting with the technical designer, designer, to evaluate the fit and communicate solutions with the vendor.
- Researches, measures market samples to prepare market comparison reports
- Works with pattern makers to make sure drawing specs are complete and accurate
- Assists/ provides technical assistance and support to vendors/contractors/customers
- Assists/ reviews private label technical package, fit samples and relates comments back to the agent
- Trains others if needed on technical process, procedures, how to measure when needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned
- Files samples in an organized location for easy retrieval/reference
SKILLS:
- Proficient with Google Drive/Applications or related software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of apparel and construction
- Knowledge of pattern making and grading is a plus
- General knowledge of apparel production process
- Skill in creating technical specification packages
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to various apparel categories, brands, sizes
- Skill with problem solving and clearly outlining solutions
- Skill in working with computer software programs: Illustrator
- Ability to organize time effectively to multitask and meet various, strict deadlines dates
- Skill in working with a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
REQUIREMENTS:
- B.A. Apparel Design or Apparel Production
- 1-2 years of experience in technical design
- Proficient in PLM, Illustrator
