This position performs its duties on both the Kentfield and Indian Valley (Novato) campuses, so if not already residing within the Bay Area, the successful candidate must be willing to relocate.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Student Learning and Success (Vice President) is an equity-minded, visionary, innovative, and strategic leader with a proven commitment to inclusive academic and student services excellence and participatory governance. The Vice President is responsible for fostering institutional stewardship, championing academic excellence rooted in equitable opportunities in teaching, learning, and service, and promoting student-centered experiences for all members of our diverse community. The ideal candidate will be someone who advocates for diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racism to support a culturally responsive environment that provides outstanding educational opportunities for all students, employees, and the Marin community.Reporting to the Superintendent/President, this position uniquely serves as the institution’s Chief Instructional and Student Services Officer. The Vice President will play a key role in aligning institutional priorities with the College’s strategic initiatives by ensuring a coherent, integrated approach to instructional and student service offerings. As a member of the executive leadership team and cabinet member, this position will serve as the College’s Chief Executive Officer in the absence of the Superintendent/President. As the Chief Instructional Officer, the Vice President will work closely with the Superintendent/President, other executives, their student learning and success staff, faculty, and other departments to build and foster a variety of high-impact academic and student support programs and services. The Vice President will ensure an equity-minded approach to budgeting, institutional research, accreditation standards, recommending policies and procedures, student learning outcomes assessment, program review, hiring, technological advancement, and fiscal accountability.

As a dynamic and forward-thinking institution, we are excited about where we are heading! In line with our strategic vision, we will soon complete the District’s final Measure B project, a new Learning Resource Center (LRC). The LRC will physically support an integrated student success model that will house many support services, learning communities, and the library. While we prepare for our accreditation Focused Site Visit in March, and our much-anticipated centennial celebration in 2026, we are setting our sights on new horizons, such as re-imagining campus safety, housing, and basic needs advancement for students. We are also focusing on addressing healthcare disparities in Marin County to better achieve equity in mental health within our campus community. Finally, we have implemented initiatives to increase outreach and marketing to reach all potential student populations, enhance College of Marin’s standing as our community’s college, and ensure the College fully meets the educational needs of all members of our diverse community.
DUTIES
Reporting to the Superintendent/ President, the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Student Learning & Success (Vice President) serves as chief instructional and student services officer for the District. This educational administrative position is responsible for providing leadership and vision, as a member of the executive management team, for building and fostering a collaborative faculty and staff consultation process in planning, directing, developing, administering, evaluating, and implementing a variety of academic and student support programs and service of the College, including budgeting, institutional research, accreditation standards, recommending policies and procedures, student learning outcomes assessment, program review, technological advancement, and fiscal accountability.
The Vice President of Student Learning & Success administers and implements District policies, collective bargaining agreements, Equal Opportunity statutes, State and Federal codes, local laws and other regulations as applicable to assure compliance and continual modernization throughout all District learning programs, services, activities and their fiscal management. The Vice President may provide input to the collective bargaining process, and may participate in negotiations, and coordinates and guides the delivery of District business, operations and services which advance the District mission. The position will serve as an effective change agent in creating a campus environment that is welcoming and nurturing for all students. The Vice President will also work collaboratively with the College’s diverse stakeholders to develop and implement innovative approaches to enhance student learning and provide a student-centered learning environment.
