SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent provides leadership and vision in the on-going planning, implementation, development, direction, review and evaluation of the school's curriculum and instructional services, education services, research and evaluation efforts.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as a member of the Superintendent's Administrative Council (AC).
- Provide leadership and supervision to all division principals, the Director of Student Success Services, the Director of College and Academic Planning and the Director of Fine Arts. This team makes up the Academic Leadership Team (ALT).
- Counsel with principals, and directors on matters of concern to help them improve in their effectiveness.
- Assist as needed with counsel for student discipline situations.
- Set the agenda for and facilitate ALT meetings.
- Serve as the information liaison between the ALT and AC.
- Provide innovation and curricular oversight for all academic programs, Pre-K - 12th Grade.
- Ensure that biblical integration is being delivered effectively in each subject and classroom.
- Develop and maintain processes to ensure whole school curricular alignment and appropriate curricular mapping.
- Ensure that the school's learning goals are aligned to state standards and to instructional practices that yield the highest standards of student achievement and instructional excellence.
- Support all aspects of instructional and curriculum integration of technology to enhance student learning.
- Review and analyze standardized test scores to inform curricular decisions (short and long term).
- Identify areas for curricular or instructional change and innovation in partnership with divisional principals and the Director of College and Academic Planning.
- Provide leadership for all SCS instructional professional development (PD) efforts.
- Provide PD and accountability to ensure biblical worldview integration is being delivered effectively in each subject and classroom.
- Plan and provide PD opportunities that help faculty members meet individual and school wide goals and expectations.
- Provide leadership and oversight of Friday morning late start PD efforts.
- Develop and manage the budgets for professional development, ACSI certification, and continuing education.
- Coordinate the delivery and acquiring of educational and Bible CEU's and other professional development requests from faculty.
- Coordinate and utilize state aid programs and Title II funding.
- Coordinate all teacher certifications.
- Coordinate all teachers ACSI certification and ensure that SCS meets and/or exceeds the school's accreditation standard.
- Assist state certified teachers and serve as the SCS liaison to the State of South Carolina Renewal Entity Program.
- Support, cooperate and coordinate with ALT members regarding their personnel.
- Participate in the interview and selection process of the instructional staff as appropriate.
- Participate in the supervision process of teachers through formal and informal classroom observations and conferences as needed.
- Assist principals or directors with their employees placed on an improvement plan through observations as requested.
- Lead the annual handbook revision process for the Student & Family Handbook and the Faculty Procedures
- Lead ACSI/Cognia and CESA accreditation and review efforts.
- Lead the school through the self-study and preparation for accreditation renewal.
- Develop the CSIP for educational outcomes for ACSI accreditation.
- Create and submit all annual accreditation reports.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS:
- Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; attend and be actively involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
- Have a commitment to the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of Christian schooling as expressed by Southside Christian School, demonstrated by their eligible children enrolled in Southside Christian School.
- Must be able to articulate a deep understanding of a biblically informed philosophy of Christian education.
- Must be a spiritually mature, veteran Christian school leader.
- Must have at least 5 years' experience working directly with principals, students, and parents. Experience in a Christian school setting is required.
- Strong communication and presentation skills are required.
- Must have or be able to obtain ACSI Administrative Certification.
- Must have a master's degree in educational leadership. Doctorate is strongly preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
