The Assistant Superintendent works as part of a Construction Services team managing the field operations for military housing construction including finish carpentry, rough carpentry, sheetrock installation, and sheetrock finishing. The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in overseeing the work of contractors, vendors, and craft workers on the project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises and is responsible for all on jobsite activities including safety, schedule, cost and quality. Directly manages and monitors project work in the field.
- Promote Sevan safety culture: maintain safe, clean, and organized work environment. Ensure Sevan’s safety requirements are met, encourage proactive safety practices, and rectify job site hazards immediately.
- Understands CPM scheduling and has the ability to create and maintain a CPM schedule.
- Ensure trade partner staffing levels are consistent to maintain project schedule.
- Complete quality inspections of trade partners and field personnel. Maintains and active deficiency report on open quality items.
- Plan, organize and host weekly foremen meetings.
- Proactively communicates project related issues directly with Project Manager, Project Executive, or Operations Director.
- Examines construction documentation including drawings, schedules, and scopes to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Reviews bid results, specifications, test and progress reports, and other project information necessary to gain complete familiarity with the project.
- Confirms and verifies permitting requirements related to the project.
- Coordinates with local municipalities as required for any/all inspections.
- Collaborates with Project Manager on change orders and incorporates work into project schedule.
- Follows Sevan’s standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
- Prepares and provides daily and weekly status reports for projects utilizing Procore software.
- Proactively identifies and solves or elevates project issues related to cost, schedule, safety, or qualify.
- Along with the Sevan Project Manager, represents the company in project meetings.
- Develops and maintains relationships with clients, potential clients, subcontractors and vendors to help develop new opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years related experience and/or training.
- Demonstrated skills in on site construction management.
- Experience in trades and management of at-risk construction required.
- 2-year or 4- year degree in an accredited construction related program desired.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Procore® project management software and scheduling software (Primavera, Microsoft Project or Smartsheet)
- State/local General Contractors license is helpful
