Position Overview
The Assistant Manager will play a key role in creating an exceptional guest experience, leading a team, and driving the store’s overall success. This individual will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence while fostering a positive, guest-centric team culture. The Assistant Manager will help manage day-to-day activities, develop strategies to meet business goals, and ensure that every guest has a seamless, memorable experience.Key Responsibilities
- Guest Service Leadership: Create a guest-obsessed culture by prioritizing guest experience, resolving any issues that arise, and ensuring the team is fully engaged in delivering outstanding service.
- Team Management: Lead a team of hourly team members and department leaders, providing guidance, support, and direction to meet service and sales goals. Motivate and develop team members by conducting regular feedback sessions and identifying opportunities for growth.
- Staffing & Talent Management: Anticipate staffing needs and collaborate with Team Leaders to create recruiting plans, hire top talent, and manage schedules based on business priorities and guest traffic. Ensure proper onboarding and training for new hires and provide ongoing coaching to team members.
- Performance & Accountability: Establish clear performance expectations and foster a culture of accountability. Provide consistent coaching and feedback on critical guest service behaviors.
- Sales & Operations Management: Analyze business reports and guest insights to identify opportunities for improvement. Develop and execute strategies to meet sales targets and operational goals.
- Problem-Solving & Conflict Resolution: Respond quickly to any negative guest experiences by de-escalating situations and empowering the team to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
- Training & Development: Oversee the completion of training for new and existing team members. Provide continuous learning opportunities and check for understanding.
- Guest Engagement & Communication: Use strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with both guests and team members. Ensure effective communication within the team and across the store.
- Store Operations: Manage the store’s daily activities, including opening and closing duties, inventory management, visual merchandising, and ensuring the store maintains a clean and welcoming environment.
- Compliance & Safety: Lead by example, demonstrating ethical conduct, safety, and compliance in all store operations. Ensure the team adheres to safety standards and follows company protocols.
Qualifications
- Leadership Experience: Proven experience in managing a team, including hourly team members and leaders. Ability to create a positive, results-driven culture that prioritizes guest service.
- Guest Service Expertise: Deep understanding of guest service fundamentals with a track record of building and managing a guest-first team culture across the store.
- Retail Business Knowledge: Strong understanding of retail operations, including sales targets, guest engagement, inventory control, and the ability to set and execute business strategies.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to think quickly and solve problems with poise and professionalism, particularly in challenging guest service situations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively convey information to both guests and team members.
- Multitasking & Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and remain organized.
- Ethical & Compliant: A commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant store environment, ensuring all team members are held to high standards of conduct.
- Experience in Retail Leadership: Experience in a retail or customer service management role, with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in customer service, retail, or bridal sales preferred but not required; training is provided.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to build meaningful connections with customers from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Google Docs, PowerPoint, and email).
- Polite, friendly, and customer-focused demeanor.
- High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
- Enthusiastic and team-oriented with a positive attitude.
- Problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for fashion and creating exceptional customer experiences.
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
- Interpret instructions, reports and information
- Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 15 pounds. Climbing stairs throughout the day, and standing/walking for extended periods.
- Accurately handle cash register operations and cash transactions
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays) and regular attendance necessary
