Position Summary:
Assists the Store Manager in general management duties and shares responsibility for the store operation and performance. Coordinates and directs the overall operations of the store in the absence of the store manager.

- Supports the Store Manager in the fulfillment of his/her responsibilities in planning, organizing, directing and controlling store activities and operations.
- Supports monitoring store quality, cleanliness, stock levels, merchandising, sales growth, and profitability.
- Monitors work schedules for all store personnel to ensure consistent application of courtesy and service to customers.
- Ensures that accurate records are maintained in tracking margins, markdowns, in-store use of merchandise, voids, refunds on outdated, damaged or spoiled merchandise write-offs.
- Ensures that product rotation procedures are rigidly observed and that merchandise is of optimum freshness and quality.
- Ensures that store personnel keep refrigerated coolers and shelves fully stocked and faced according to the shelf tag allocation and department standards.
- Ensures that all merchandise is properly priced and price changes are implemented in a timely manner (where applicable).
- Ensures front end (POS) accuracy and integrity.
- Ensures that all displays are built to maximize sales, are neat, colorful, and properly signed.
- Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures
- Supports store loss prevention efforts through meetings and audits.
- Maintains effective security standards and procedures for all areas within the store.
- Maintains high standards of employee morale and promotes an atmosphere of cooperation.
- Monitors and enforces a regular and effective housekeeping program throughout the store.
- Evaluates and reacts to performance issues and actively recruits as necessary. Executes performance appraisals, administration of counseling programs and training new associates.
- Participates in training activities to increase personal skill level, improving overall store operations and customer service.
- Meets the physical requirements to perform the job functions listed above.
- Some college is the minimum educational requirement.
- Should have a minimum of three years of experience in the supermarket industry.
- Should have a comprehensive working knowledge of all aspects of store managementand operations.
