Job Summary: Responsible for assisting the General Manager in managing and directing the efficient operation of the store to maximize sales and profitability. Perform the duties of the General Manager in his/her absence. Knowledgeable with the various department functions. Works with designated Department Managers to coach and assist in training the store staff to learn and understand the nuances of the various products and processes required. Responsible for the monitoring and review of staff job results and store needs with GM. Acts as a role model and exemplifies Pete's Four Pillars of Value, Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.
Essential Job Responsibilities

- ยท Assists General Manager with proper training and supervision of new and existing staff that will warrant the correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise and building of displays.
- Assists the General Manager in managing the department teams by focusing on teaching DMs and associates about sales performance to achieve the levels consistent with corporate objectives.
- Coordinates and communicates with corporate support teams, such as Buyers & Pricing, GM and Department Managers for proper and efficient store function.
- Monitors training emphasizing correct receiving, purchasing and inventory supply, POS procedures and exceptional customer service.
- Supports, upholds, and enforces all Company policies, and local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Assists in the communication with the GM for management of labor and scheduling to minimize labor expenses, while ensuring adequate store staffing in accordance with the needs of the business.
- Monitors and recognizes the cause of shrink and works effectively to control losses and help to increase profits.
- Communicates with Scan Coordinator, DMs and teams to ensure that the correct pricing is maintained and that all shelf tags reflect proper merchandise information and prices.
- Maintains high standards of store image ensuring that the store is clean, well-stocked, and ready for business.
- Strives to increase sales through suggestive selling skills/techniques and to consistently improve customer service.
- Ensures information flows to all team members and advise management of significant events affecting the store.
- Supervises and coaches direct reports in the performance of their duties; participates in performance reviews and provides feedback.

Education and Certifications
- 2-4 years retail management experience.
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Possesses a current Sanitation License for City and State.

Work Environment Requirements/ Physical Demands
- Must have the physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, climb, balance, stoop to grasp objects, kneel, crouch, crawl, frequently push/pull up to 100 lbs., frequently lift and/or move loads up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
- Ability to enter the coolers and freezers thereby being subjected to and withstanding frequent temperature changes for extended periods of time.
- Occasional high stress when dealing with systems/customers/staff.
- Able to work a flexible schedule with various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as determined by the store/business needs and as required to ensure adequate store staffing.
- Must have reliable source of transportation.
- The ability to be reached during/after work hours.
