Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Recreation Manager is responsible for supporting the Recreation Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of SVCA's recreational amenities. Under the supervision of the Recreation Manager, they are directly responsible for managing the operations of the Community Center, marina, and RV storage, along with administering the rental of all SVCA facilities. They collaborate with the Recreation Manager to ensure the maintenance of the facilities under their management is adequately performed, and they ensure exceptional customer service is provided to our members and the general public utilizing our recreational amenities.
Description of Duties
General:
· Provide exceptional customer service, perform job duties with accuracy and attention to detail.
· Educate Members and public on facility and Department rules and standards.
· Support the Recreation Manager and Administrative Department in the planning, marketing, and execution of community events. May require weekend or evening availability.
· Assist Administration with Recreation marketing and promotions via eblasts, the SVCA website, advertising, and social media.
· Support the Recreation Manager with supervision, training, direction, and scheduling of recreation staff stationed at the Community Center and pools.
· Collaborate with the Maintenance and Facilities Manager and Recreation Manager on the maintenance and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures for, Recreation, Pools, Marina, and storage facilities.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Manager or Maintenance and Facilities Manager/General Manager.
· Act as Liaison with Community Clubs.
SVCA Facility Rentals
· Administration of all SVCA facility reservations, which include but are not limited to:
· Community Center, Adult Center, Clubhouse, and Area Z.
· Pavilions, sports courts, pools, and parks.
· Wet and dry Marina boat slips and kayak racks.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and files for all reservations, including rental agreement forms
· Book and track reservations in designated software system including processing monetary payments and applicable refunds as necessary.
· Assist and/or facilitate setup and breakdown of rentals.
· Inspect facilities after reservations to determine applicable refunds and/or fines.
· Document and publish facilities and amenities available for rental. Includes frequent inspection of facilities to confirm cleanliness, maintenance, and safety. Includes the upkeep of all facility rental information on the SVCA website.
· Collaborate with Recreation Manager in establishing and maintaining applicable fees. Includes researching and documenting market rates on comparable fees.
· Communicate and collaborate with other Departments as necessary.
Marina
· Work with Recreation Management Team on management of the day-to-day operations of Marina and its associated facilities.
· Work with Recreation Management Team to ensure all boats, kayaks, and canoes are correctly placed, current on the payment of fees, and meet all SVCA policies, along with applicable local ordinances and state laws.
· Collaborate with the Recreation Manager on the research, development, and presentation of Marina related capital projects.
· Assist with supervision, training, direction, and scheduling of seasonal recreation staff stationed at the marina office building during peak seasons.
· Work with Recreation Management Team on management of community members marina access cards, tracking of issued cards and card supply.
· Collaborate with Recreation Manager in recommending and maintaining applicable fees. Includes researching and documenting market rates on comparable fees.
· Collaborate with Security, the Maintenance and Facilities Manager/General Manager, and other departments as necessary to conduct compliance actions as needed.
Supervision
Works under the direction of the Recreation Manager.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and carrying approximately 25 pounds at waist high level. Frequent sitting, some standing, and walking required. Extensive use of computer terminal and keyboard. Moderate to high requirement for hand coordination, visual ability, and cognitive abilities. Must tolerate moderate noise levels and interruptions in an open office environment. Works indoors in controlled conditions and outdoors in potential inclement weather.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
An associate degree in parks and recreation or a closely related field is desired; Bachelor's Degree in a similar field is preferred; three years of work experience in the administration of recreational programs and services or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. CPR/First Aid certificates and possession of a valid Washington State Driver's License are required to be maintained while employed by SVCA.
