About the Job
Otak CPM is seeking an Assistant Project Manager who will assist with project delivery under the supervision of a Senior Project Manager throughout the project lifecycle, including pre-design, design, construction, and post-occupancy. This role is focused on fostering strong relationships through leading scopes of work and their project teams comprised of client stakeholders, vendors, and industry partners, while growing in technical expertise to facilitate project success.
Otak CPM serves as an independent advocate for the owner. Our all-inclusive work allows clients to focus on their own priorities, while we take care of the rest. Being familiar with everyone from engineers to manufacturers, we keep the project aligned, in-sync and running smoothly. As an additional set of eyes and ears between the design team and builders, we successfully manage our client’s budget, scope, and time.
What you’ll do:
- Collaborate with Senior Project Manager to develop and implement project plans.
- Lead specific project scopes, serving as a primary client liaison.
- Prepare task work plans, schedules, and budgets; adjust as needed to meet objectives.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and project teams through status reports, risk logs, and decision matrices.
- Engage project stakeholders proactively, incorporating their needs into project strategies.
- Serve as a point-of-contact with AE and GC teams, attending key meetings and coordinating efforts.
- Review monthly billing reports to monitor budgets and expenses.
- Evaluate and validate third-party contract changes and provide recommendations to clients.
- Foster a positive project culture and maintain professionalism in resolving conflicts.
- Support client satisfaction by addressing post-completion needs, such as warranty walks and closeout activities.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or industry related area is preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a construction, technical or design related field, with at least 2 years of experience in Owner’s Representation / Project Management.
- Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) and/or PM Certificate desirable.
- Demonstrated previous project management experience in commercial building construction.
- Demonstrated previous successful experience in the management of budgets, schedules, procurement, site logistics and change management.
- Experience with construction management software preferable.
- OSHA 10 certification desired.
