Merric Millwork and Seating is a custom woodwork, metal, stone and seating manufacturer that has been providing high quality products to our customers nationwide for over 30 years.
The Assistant Project Manager has responsibility for the successful planning and execution of specific projects. They shall work with project managers, estimating, production and engineering to ensure all documents, materials and production documents are accurate and reflective of customers' expectations and company policies and goals. The Assistant Project Manager must be able to ask penetrating questions, detect unstated assumptions, and resolve conflicts as they relate to scheduling and fabrication issues.
This role is 100% on-site.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work with the Project Manager, Estimating and Engineering at the project "hand-off" meeting.
- Participate in the Internal & External handoff to walk through the steps required on the front end of the project, highlighting any known stumbling blocks.
- Review/ Manage all shop drawings (and revisions) prior to submittal, ensuring that the drawings follow the intent of the contract documents and are in line with Merric's fabrication techniques. Report all deviations to scope/ budgets identified to Project Manager.
- Manage all information between: Project Manager, Engineering, Production and Material Manager
- Ensure all documents are processed timely and proper version control is in place to eliminate confusion downstream. This includes submittals, production order forms, purchase orders, RFI responses, new ASI's and ship tickets for each phase of each job.
- Review/ manage material take-offs, research products and suppliers, and order all materials through the Material Manager
- Work with the plant manager/ production planner to ensure all technical/ specification, quality and scheduling questions are resolved, recognizing that any real or perceived risks could jeopardize the success of any project.
- Ensure an accurate review of Engineering/ Production packets are complete and released in a timely manner to the Production Planner.
- Be familiar with the manufacturing process, quality and best practices required to produce a high quality product. Be the point of contact for production related questions regarding how something is built and to interpret production drawings to ensure our customers expectations are met within budget and bid.
- Maintain a focus on delivering great internal customer service with stakeholders
- Frequently walk the production floor to inspect items during fabrication
- The assistant project managers report directly to the Project Manager
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent multitasking skills
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Proficiency in any management software
Education and Experience:
- 3+ years' experience in project management or administrative assistance
- Bachelors degree in related discipline preferred.
- 2+ years' experience in millwork or cabinet making
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Safely walk the production floor to verify project status.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
