About the Job
We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager in our Eastern PA area to help manage and direct specific projects in such a manner as to provide cost effectiveness, and optimum profitability in operations.
Assistant Project Manager - What Will You Do?
Project Engineering
- Monitor pay item quantities and incidental factor quantities for cost history.
- Review/prepare biweekly/monthly pay estimates for PennDot, PTC, or other owners.
- Daily review of time sheets (FDR’s) for correct cost codes, quantities, comments, and/or other pertinent information.
- Maintain daily production records and enter Quantity Book Spreadsheet.
- Review daily/weekly/monthly cost reports for accuracy.
- Process subcontractor pay estimates.
- Assist in ordering materials and scheduling subcontractors.
- Provide information for and/or update project CPM schedules.
- Maintain an updated submittal log.
- Prepare and maintain material source of supplies, purchase orders, Subcontractor Agreements, Project Budgets, waste/borrow areas, and value engineering.
- Learn and become proficient with NESL’s Costing System, Primavera CPM Scheduling, and ECMS (PennDot).
Estimating
- Provide detailed quantity takeoffs of excavation, concrete, blacktop, drainage, and input into estimating system.
- Attend owner pre-bid meetings for selected bid projects.
- Perform site visits, photographing, CAD drawings, and documentation of existing conditions at project bid locations.
- Input appropriate crews (labor, equipment, material, etc.) and productions into estimates, applicable to each specific operation.
- Review cost history to provide accurate operational crew and productions into estimates.
- Learn and become proficient with NESL’s Estimating System, AGTEK, plans and specifications, and special provisions and standards.
On-Site Operations (under the guidance of General Superintendent)
- HMA Paving: Assist in general operations including Mainline Full Width Paving, Widening Paving, and Quality Control.
Requirements - Who Are We Looking For?
- 2-5 years' work experience in a heavy construction related field (i.e. HMA paving, commercial excavation, bridge construction, commercial construction).
- Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree in Business or Construction Management preferred but not required with relevant job experience.
- Familiarity with construction and construction related activities.
- Advanced computer skills including demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities (as demonstrated by Achievement in non-academic pursuits such as athletics, clubs and organizations, special projects, military service, and prior work experience).
- Ability and willingness to relocate and work at various sites.
- Capacity and motivation for hard work.
- Knowledge of estimating/scheduling software is preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong math skills and attention to detail.
