ROLE OVERVIEW: As an Assistant Project Manager (APM) at Bowa Construction, you will be integral to the success of our projects from start to finish. You’ll assist in managing the project lifecycle, ensuring client satisfaction, and supporting the project team in tasks ranging from cost control to scheduling, estimating, document control, and more. Your focus will be on ensuring smooth operations during the construction phase, maintaining project timelines, and assisting with all aspects of project management to ensure successful project delivery.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project Coordination: Manage and distribute all preliminary project documents, including drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Bidding & Estimating: Solicit bids/quotes, perform estimates, takeoffs, and prepare budgeting estimates, change orders, and quantities for materials and labor.
- Scheduling & Tracking: Prepare, update, and manage project schedules and “look-ahead” schedules, tracking project timelines and supporting near-term project activities.
- Document Management: Ensure all contract document logs (e.g., submittals, RFIs) are maintained and updated, ensuring proper documentation for change orders and ASIs.
- Submittals & RFIs: Process and manage submittals and requests for information (RFIs), tracking status and ensuring timely approvals.
- Team Support: Assist the Project Manager (PM) in generating project plans, preparing status reports, and attending project meetings.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Help manage the verification of subcontractor work orders and pricing, ensuring compliance with project scope and specifications.
- Client Satisfaction: Proactively support the project team and clients by understanding their needs and acting with a sense of urgency to resolve issues and ensure project success.
- Close-Out Process: Assist in managing the close-out process, ensuring all final documentation is completed, and deadlines are met.
- Risk Mitigation: Help identify and mitigate potential risks, suggesting process improvements and resolving problems as they arise.
- Professional Development: Develop relationships within the industry, expanding your professional network and generating opportunities for future projects.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, with 2-4 years of experience in construction management or project engineering with a general contracting firm.
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience in construction management or project engineering, with a preference for experience in Education/Government sectors.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Knowledge of construction management software (e.g., Procore) is a plus.
- Communication: Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with the project team, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Leadership & Customer Service: Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, solve problems, and deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring project success and client satisfaction.
- Problem-Solving & Risk Mitigation: Strong ability to identify risks and work proactively to mitigate issues while implementing process improvements.
