The Assistant Group Home Director is responsible for providing supervision to treatment team staff including direct supervision of management staff and oversight of supervision for direct care staff. S/he evaluates, coordinates, and directs the treatment milieu and services provided to students. S/he ensures that regulatory standards are met and that policies and procedures are operationalized. S/he functions as an integral member of the Administrative Team.
Responsibilities:Standards of Care:
Promotes the consistent achievement of Stetson School standards of care on the team.
Ensures a safe and therapeutic milieu is provided at all times.
Ensures that all staff model and demonstrate care giver qualities that treat all students with
dignity and respect.
Promotes staff interventions that support the Stetson School’s ACORN approach.
Ensures that team staff work within the Family Engagement model, and treat all family members and visitors with dignity and respect.
Ensures telephone and mail contact with family or other identified supportive adults in accordance with the individual service plan and program rules and standards.
Prevents interactions that are not sanctioned within the rules, practices, and policies of Stetson School.
Prevents actions and disparaging comments that may be considered horseplay, roughhousing, and/or derogatory comments and demeaning gestures.
Monitors staff to student interactions including professional boundaries, and responds to any concerns according to program procedures.
Acts as a role model and reinforces pro-social behaviors with students and staff.
Leadership:

Meetings and Communication Management:
Communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
Demonstrate effective conflict management skills.
Communicate effectively with all team members, administrators, psychiatrist, and other departments.
Assess communication issues and develop appropriate solutions.
Provides team meetings that are organized, productive and relevant.
Staff Resource and Development:
Oversee and assess team’s master schedule and communicate needs to the Residential Director.
Adhere to personnel policy guidelines and practices in hiring staff.
Manage the effective and efficient use of staffing resources
Provide direct individual supervision to the team’s Supervisors, Case Managers, Clinicians and Secretary, instituting a focused developmental approach.
Monitor the provision of direct care supervision by team Supervisors, and ensure both quality and quantity standards are met, and are reflected by relevant documentation in supervision files.
Provide guidance and expectations for Supervisors regarding staff orientation.
Ensure that performance appraisals are completed appropriately for all staff as per protocol.
Identify staff training needs and provide training as indicated.
Develop and provide oversight for professional staff development, including corrective action plans and progressive discipline when appropriate.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for staff training hours and topics including, but not limited to, CPR, First Aid, TCI, and MAP.
Evaluate performance of team, identify strengths and areas of weakness, and develop appropriate development or corrective action plans where needed.
Participate in In-Service staff training and staff development programs as needed.
Programming:
Plan, direct, and assess the structure and routines of residential programming.
Ensure that the Units offer skills training groups in accordance with program models and design.
Ensure that the Units pre-plan and post a rich, varied, and age appropriate recreation schedule in accordance to relevant protocols and procedures.
Provide oversight for therapeutic recreation services provided to team by Recreation Coordinator.
Ensure that all programming and staff practices are consistent with the Program’s ACORN model.
Ensure the team provides safe community integration and community based instruction.
Ensure a functional student advocate program as the foundation of milieu treatment.
Monitors behavioral interventions on the team to ensure consistency with the program’s behavior management system.
Policy and Procedure Oversight:
Oversee and ensure consistent implementation of the Staff Secure Guidelines.
Provide oversight for direct care services provided to team by overnight and education staff.
Provide oversight for and ensure accuracy in student records and charts.
Develop accounting systems to ensure team compliance with policies and standards.
Ensure staff are trained in policy and procedure.
Ensure staff implementation of policy and procedure.
Participate in development of agency-wide policy and procedure.
Health and Safety and facilities:
Ensure that Fire Drills, evacuation drills and Health and Safety Inspections meet program standards.
Take responsibility for maintaining a clean and safe unit physical plant.
Take responsibility for continuous assessment of the units’ physical plant, identifies needs, recommends building improvements, and ensure needed repairs are reported.
Work with nursing to ensure appropriate medication and health related services for students.
Support healthy lifestyles and wellness for students including fitness and nutrition.
Documentation and Reporting:
Ensure that team staff provides consistent documentation as identified by policy and protocol.
Ensure that notification and documentation of critical incidents are completed within required timelines in accordance with Stetson School policy and funding agency guidelines.
Ensure that program documentation is distributed to maintain communication and transparency.
Ensure logs that are accurate and maintained according to program standards, including communication log, visit and phone logs, and other unit based documentation.
Service Delivery/Therapeutic Planning
Lead treatment teams for all unit students, monitoring and approving all case decisions and actions.
Ensure that services are delivered as outlined in individual service plan and individual education plan.
Assess and direct programming for students who present complex behavioral treatment issues.
Provide oversight for core sexual behavior programming, ensuring that treatment standards are met,
Assess and direct assignment of cases, and their overall management.
Ensure consistency and collaboration in treatment among all treatment team members.
Maintain accessibility to students and reviews all applicable complaints and grievances.
Ensure that all behavioral interventions are in accordance to Stetson School policies and procedures.
Works with Restraint Coordinator to provide oversight for all therapeutic physical interventions, ensuring that the least restrictive means is used in all cases.
Licensing Regulations
Demonstrate comprehension of all relevant licensing regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, the Department of Early Education and Care, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Care and Protection Reporting Regulations, and OSHA standards.
Ensure that all programming meets licensing requirements and expectations.
Participate in licensing studies and audits when applicable.
Ensure that treatment program meets standards of accreditation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for evaluating, coordinating, and directing the treatment milieu and services provided to students. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree required, bachelors degree preferred and four years related experience and/or training in treatment and/or management of troubled and trauma exposed youth. Knowledge of collaborative, team oriented management styles, interdisciplinary teams, treatment planning, employment laws, regulations, policies and ethical concerns relating to confidentiality, reporting risk management, youth participation and confrontation, juvenile court systems, social systems, legal parameters, therapeutic/legal interface, and various theories of sexual deviance.

Language: English; conversational capacity in Spanish preferred, but not necessary.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Requires a current valid driver’s license from state of residence, be able to travel 25% of the time.
Must obtain MAP certification within six months of hire.
Must carry a cell phone and respond during off-duty hours for on-call purposes.
