TenureTrack Assistant/Associate Professor of Theatrical Design/Production Manager
Niagara University's Department of Theatre & Fine Arts invites applications for a tenuretrack Assistant or Associate Professor position in Theatre, specializing in scenic, lightingand/or projection design, to start in the fall 2025 semester.
This candidate must be an outstanding theatre scholar, flexible problem-solver and artistwith seasoned academic and professional experience. This position carries a 3/3teaching load. The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Theatrical Design,Stagecraft and a design elective in their area of expertise. The position will carry onethree-credit download for all theatrical designs in the fall semester, as well as one three credit download for all theatrical designs in the spring. The individual will also serve asProduction Manager for the NU theatre season throughout the entire academic year,counting as one three credit download.
Responsibilities include:
-Creation of appropriate technical paperwork and supporting research for the area ofdesign and production
-Management and supervision of student crews
-Recruitment and mentoring of students
-Student advisement
-Oversee internships and outside networking for students
-Department and University service
-Participate in curriculum development
As Production Manager:
-consult with artistic director while apportioning preliminary budgets per show
-schedule and facilitate all production and design meetings, and facilitate all other relevant communications
- manage production calendars, ensuring timelines are kept on track
- schedule shop crews and work study labor; log and report hours
- schedule and supervise production crew calls including, but not limited to, load-ins, paint calls , light hang and focus dates, and technical/dress rehearsals ensuring
The Successful candidates will have:MFA in Theatre
Teachingexperience at a 4-year teaching institutionor its equivalentRecord of successful professional and academic design experience
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
