Department Summary

The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas, distinguished as one of the few Tier‐One research universities designated as a Hispanic‐Serving Institution (HSI), prepares graduates to address diverse and complex social issues such as aging, disability, disaster management and recovery, criminal justice, health disparities, and public safety, and find solutions to challenges in public administration, public health, and urban design. We have seven academic departments with undergraduate and graduate programs, the Center for Public Management, the UNT Speech and Hearing Center, UNT Workplace Inclusion & Sustainable Employment (WISE), and a number of professional development and clinical training programs to facilitate careers to address a global society.

Located within HPS, the Department of Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology (ASLP) provides the finest graduate professional education in both speech-language pathology and audiology while maintaining an excellent undergraduate degree. The program stresses excellence in teaching, research, and service by its faculty and students. As a component of the educational program, the department operates the UNT Speech and Hearing Center, which offers professional services to members of our campus community and the general public for the purpose of providing clinical training for students. The Center offers state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of speech, language, and hearing disorders.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Position Overview

The Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology (ASLP) Department seeks an outstanding and energetic full-time assistant professor with expertise in the field of speech-language pathology to begin in Fall 2025. This is a 9-month, tenure-track position. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in speech-language pathology, communication sciences and disorders, or a related field. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate level courses in speech-language pathology. The candidate selected for this position will be expected to engage in research, provide high-quality and innovative instruction in both traditional and non-traditional formats, serve as appropriate on department, college, and university committees, and participate in professional organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

•Doctoral degree in speech-language pathology, communications sciences or disorders, or a related discipline from an accredited institution;
•An established research agenda with the ability to engage in independent research and grant development activities;
•Ability to teach in traditional and non-traditional formats and settings (on-campus, off-campus, evenings, online) and utilize instructional technology software (instructional software, learning management systems such as Canvas);
