The Psychology Department at Southern Utah University (http://suu.edu/hss/psychology/) seeks two Tenure Track Assistant Professors to contribute primarily to the Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology program and secondarily to the undergraduate program. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (other considerations in Education and Experience Requirements below). For advanced applicants, years toward tenure may be applied at the time of hire. These are full-time, 9-month positions to commence either January 2025 or August 2025. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaching and/or engaging in other PsyD activities to meet the state required equivalency of teaching 4 graduate/undergraduate courses per semester:
- Specific course assignments will include 1-2 sections of doctoral clinical practicum supervision using a vertical team model (supervision of both intervention and assessment);
- Other classes may include Individual and Cultural Diversity, Counseling & Psychotherapy, Group Dynamics, Professional Ethics and Internship Preparation or specialized classes that suit the candidate's qualifications.
- Undergraduate courses are assigned as needed by the department;
- Specific PsyD responsibilities noted below may apply towards teaching load.
- Participating and serving within the PsyD program, including attending and presenting professional development seminars, serving on comprehensive exam committees, serving as professional project mentors/chairs, as well as other responsibilities as needed by the program.
- Serving within departmental, college and/or university-level as needed by the department.
- Maintaining a license to practice psychology in the state of UT and being clinically competent in the practice of health service psychology and in clinical supervision.
- Engagement in clinical scholarship/creative activities. For PsyD faculty, clinical scholarship can often be supported by mentoring PsyD research projects and associated publications.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program (PhD in School Psychology may be considered)
- Licensed or license-eligible in the State of Utah
- Commitment to clinical training in evidence-based assessment and intervention, evidence-based supervision practices, and high impact teaching practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and collegiality
- Training in multicultural psychology and/or evidence-based interventions in adult populations is strongly preferred; particularly experience in serving rural populations, trauma, disordered eating, or health psychology is desired
- Training in evidence-based clinical supervision practices is also preferred
