Assistant Professor of Finance
Point Park University's Rowland School of Business is conducting a search for an Assistant Professor of Finance. This position would start in the Fall 2025 semester.
Position responsibilities for this tenure-track faculty position primarily include the areas of teaching, service, and scholarship. Teaching duties mainly include course design, class instruction, student learning assessment, student advising, and curriculum development for undergraduate and graduate finance courses. The teaching load is typically three to four courses per semester depending on course level and may include corporate finance, investment management, international finance, money and banking, risk management, statistical and quantitative methods, special topics in finance, and other business courses as needed. As a teaching institution, the position should apply financial concepts to the real world, utilize market-prevalent quantitative software applications as appropriate, promote and sustain experiential learning initiatives, and advise students in the curriculum and related career options. Service duties typically relate to university, school, and department governance and/or betterment and often include participation in committees, department functions, admissions assistance/recruiting, and extracurricular activities. Scholarship duties commonly include research, publication, and presentation of scholarly work; membership in professional organizations; attendance at discipline-related or professional conferences, webcasts, educational events; and relevant related activities.
Position qualifications include completion of a Ph.D. in Business from an accredited institution with specialization in finance or another quantitative area related to the teaching areas listed. Experience in and commitment to teaching excellence and effective pedagogy are required. Significant professional work experience in finance or a related field is desirable.
About the University: Point Park University, a private coeducational institution located in downtown Pittsburgh, has an enrollment of approximately 4000 full-time and part-time students in more than 50 majors and concentrations. Founded in 1960 as Point Park College, it is known for providing its students with an experience that combines the liberal arts with career education. The University's Economics and Finance Program is domiciled within the Rowland School of Business and is IACBE accredited.
