The Psychology Department (https://apptrkr.com/get_redirect.php?id=5662039&targetURL=https://cu.taleo.net/enterprise/psychology.uccs.edu) is committed to offering psychology-related education, research, and outreach in response to the needs of the people of Colorado, the nation, and the world. The Department teaches the methodology and core knowledge of academic psychology to undergraduates. It educates and trains graduate students in the general principles and concepts of psychology and also provides them with specialized expertise in clinical psychology.
Our faculty members are experts in the field, active researchers, and engaged educators. They offer our students direct access to expertise in a wide variety of specializations, including clinical psychology, aging and mental health, trauma and resilience, child development, biopsychology, developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, social psychology, health psychology, evolutionary psychology, neuropsychology, behavioral genetics, emotion, personality psychology, substance use, quantitative methods, and many others. They are all active researchers who engage students in research, publish routinely in esteemed journals of psychology, and present papers at national and international conferences.
Salary/Pay Range : Generally starting at $75,000 - $76,000 per academic year. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Summary
The position is responsible for teaching various undergraduate and graduate courses for the Psychology Department. Classes will be assigned as needed and efforts will be made to find opportunities for the faculty member to teach in their special area of expertise. The position requires a current and active research program, including student mentoring in research. The position also requires service to the department, college, and/or field of study.
The position requires research, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentoring of graduate students, and service. The standard workload is 40% research, 40% teaching, and 20% service.
The area of research is open, but researchers with a focus on human behavioral neuropsychology, psychoneuroendocrinology, or psychophysiology are encouraged to apply. Collaborations are possible throughout the university such as with the Gerontology Center, Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience, BioFrontiers, and other Centers/Units on campus.
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
_Related to Teaching:_
+ Teach undergraduate and graduate courses each academic year, split between the fall and spring semesters.
+ Use effective distance and online learning methods when needed.
+ Implement culturally responsive practices.
+ Develop thorough syllabi and Canvas content OR follow the provided syllabus and Canvas content for the course.
_Related to Research:_
+ Contribute to the research profile of the department through publications and presentations of research.
+ Pursue grants and other sponsored program activities.
_Related to Service:_
+ Serve on department, college, and university committees.
+ Advise undergraduate and graduate students regarding progress in Psychology Department programs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks may involve looking at a computer screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Education: To be considered for this role, you must possess a PhD in biological psychology or experimental psychology with concentration in biological psychology, biopsychology, psychobiology conferred by August 2025. Applicants with doctoral degrees in related fields will be considered.
Experience: The ideal candidate will possess evidence of specialized training and experience in biopsychology through coursework and/or supervised research experiences. Also, experience practicing in both inclusive education and adult learning methods and ability to orchestrate engaging distance learning experiences when needed is desired.
