Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $52,000 - $55,000
Degree Required: PhD in Biology or related field (specialization open) from a regionally accredited college or university by the time of appointment in August 2024
Required Qualifications:
We invite applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Physical, Life, Movement & Sport Sciences Division beginning mid-August, 2024. The successful candidate will be a broadly trained individual who is committed to undergraduate teaching excellence and able to deliver high-quality lecture and laboratory courses in biology, including those for biology majors, pre-health professional majors, and non-majors. Candidates in a broad array of fields will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching at the undergraduate level is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with an ability to teach Anatomy and Physiology courses. Preference will be given to candidates whose scholarship involves developing a student-centered research program that engages undergraduate students. This research program may include mentored research projects during the academic year, the summer period, and/or through Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) developed for teaching laboratory courses.
Responsibilities:
The teaching load is 24 adjusted credit hours per year. Assignments will include introductory and advanced biology or chemistry courses offered through multiple modalities (face-to-face, online, etc.) in support of General Education Core, the Biology program, and associated medical/health programs.
Additional duties include advising & mentoring students, engaging in scholarship/professional development, and providing service to the division and the college.
