About the Job
The University of Miami Health System is initiating a search for an Assistant Professor of Audiology.
The Assistant Professor of Clinical Audiology administers and interprets a variety of tests, such as air and bone conduction, and speech reception and discrimination tests, to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment, as well as contributes positively to the visibility, academic and research standing of the department. Primary specialties are vestibular and diagnostics.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide Diagnostic Audiology and Rehabilitation services
- Selects, administers, and interprets auditory tests
- High Frequency Audiometry where indicated
- Middle ear function testing
- Diagnostic audiology testing for differential diagnosis of cochlear/retro-cochlear hearing loss
- Tests for non-organic hearing loss
- Testing for Noise Induced Hearing Loss
- Use of Real Ear Measurement equipment including Live Speech Mapping to validate and verify hearing instrument fittings
- Provide ear care and wax removal where required (appropriate training will be provided)
- Identifies and refers patients for speech-language, educational, medical, psychological, social and vocational services
- Selects ear mold, personal amplification, and/or assistive listening devices
- In-depth knowledge of several hearing aid manufacturers, Oticon, GN Resound and Phonak in particular and BAHA
- Travel to satellite clinics may be required
Desired Qualifications:
- Doctorate of Audiology degree required
- Current/valid Florida Audiologist license required
- Bilingual is preferred
