Job Description
The Department of English in the Shaheen College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Indianapolis is seeking a faculty member for a nine-month, tenure track appointment at the assistant professor level.
Candidates should show expertise in rhetoric and composition and be able to teach courses ranging from introductory composition to advanced courses in the discipline. Preferred candidates should also show experience/education in TESOL/TELL and/or writing program adminstration. Additional expertise
in other areas will also be considered.
The department offers (or will offer starting in the fall) undergraduate majors in literary studies and in creative writing, editing, and publishing writing; minors in literary studies, creative writing, and professional writing and editing; concentrations in writing and teaching English language learners; and an M.A. in English, and teaches a variety of general education courses for students across the University. All faculty teach courses at various levels, including general education courses.
Responsibilities include teaching 24 credit hours per year; providing service to the department, College, University, and/or community; and making scholarly contributions to the discipline.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. in English or related field (with a minimum of 18 credits of graduate coursework in English)
- Experience/education teaching English language learners (TELL/TESOL) and/or qualifications for writing program administration
- Ability to teach a range of students in a variety of classes
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues in and out of the department
- Participation in service and scholarship activities
