Position Summary:
As the Assistant Professor/Clinical Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in our clinical mental health counseling program. This multifaceted position involves teaching, clinical coordination, advising, and contributing to the scholarly and professional development of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching (40%):
Deliver engaging instruction in various areas of counseling theory, psychopathology, professional identity, multiculturalism, ethics, counseling methods, research, and clinical practicum.
Foster a supportive online learning environment using university learning management systems.
Provide comprehensive feedback to students to facilitate their growth and development.
Offer ethical clinical supervision to practicum and internship students, ensuring adherence to professional standards and best practices.
Clinical Coordination (40%):
Manage clinical placement opportunities and support students and site supervisors throughout the placement process.
Develop and implement field orientation programs for students.
Facilitate supervision training for site supervisors and intervene in critical incidents as needed.
Collaborate with faculty to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion in supervision practices.
Advising and Student Relations (10%):
Provide programmatic advising to students, addressing academic and professional challenges.
Support students experiencing difficulties and facilitate referrals to appropriate resources.
Maintain accurate documentation of advising interactions and uphold institutional graduation standards.
Applicant Interviews and New Student Orientation (5%):
Participate in applicant interviews and contribute to admission decisions.
Engage with new students during orientation to facilitate their transition to our program.
Scholarship, Service, and Professional Identity (5%):
Maintain active involvement in professional organizations and ongoing professional development.
Contribute to scholarly activities, including research and publication efforts.
Participate in university service through committee work and collaborative initiatives.
Position Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
Current licensure as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and eligibility for Approved Clinical Supervisor status.
Minimum three years of full-time teaching experience in clinical mental health counseling.
Proficiency in online teaching and learning management systems.
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate education in sport and performance psychology.
Experience with higher education accreditation standards.
