The Department of Environmental Studies (ENVS) at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) is seeking to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor with a start date of August 2025. ENVS is searching for a faculty member with strong interests and expertise in energy, environment, hazards, climate change, networks and spatial network analysis, and social movements. We are also especially interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: population, health inequalities, race and ethnicity, international migration, class and stratification.
Faculty in the Department carry a three course per year teaching load. Applicants must have a PhD in Environmental Studies or comparable field. A PhD degree must be conferred by the start date of the appointment. Applicants are expected to show evidence of high-quality research and evidence of or potential for securing outside funding. A background check is required. Who We Are
The Department of Environmental Studies at CU Boulder is composed of 13 tenured-tenure track faculty covering a wide range of topical expertise. Our faculty also includes 12 rostered, full-time teaching professors. Combined, faculty within the ENVS department at CU Boulder represent expertise in a range of human-environment areas and utilize quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method approaches. The University of Colorado Boulder Department of Environmental Studies emphasizes the importance of diverse voices and experiences for strengthening our teaching, research, and service to broader communities. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
This is a full-time, nine-month tenure-track position that will consist of 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service to the department, college, and university, with three courses taught per academic year.

What We Can Offer
$95,000 - $100,000 per year; moving allowance of up to $6,000 (based on department guidelines), startup available for candidate who is hired.
