Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Treatment Planeer, the Assistant Plant Operator maintains, monitors and operates production facilities utilizing both computer and manual instrumentation and when needed or scheduled, and performs routine maintenance under the daily supervision of the Plant Operator.
Work Performed:
- Assists in the maintenance and monitoring treatment plant flows, pressures, and water storage tank levels.
- Performs inspections at all production facilities including as assigned: Pumps, motors, well houses, chemical feed equipment, treatment equipment and vessels.
- Assists the Plant Operator in operating booster pumps, well fields, auxiliary pumping station, inter-connections and isolation and flow reducing valves.
- Assists in monitoring and maintaining the water treatment process through the addition and adjustment of water treatment chemicals in order to meet regulatory requirements.
- Performs field testing as required to monitor the treatment process as assigned.
- Performs general housekeeping and grounds keeping at facilities as assigned.
- Performs plant, well field, and distribution system record keeping as assigned.
- Performs plant, equipment and wellfield safety and security checks as assigned.
- Assists in the response to plant facility, distribution system alarm, emergencies and crisis situations through contact with on-call supervision and established emergency and crisis management procedures.
- Assists Maintenance and Laboratory staff at the Park Avenue facility as well as the CJO WTP facility as needed.
- At the discretion of the Superintendent of Production or designee, may be required to fill rotating shifts (afternoons and evenings) as required or needed.
- Available for scheduled after-hours, weekend, holiday on-call and call-in for non-scheduled emergencies.
- Work weekends and holidays as scheduled or needed.
- Note: Some mandatory overtime will be required as necessary to maintain facilities operation.
- Prepares work requests in WAM as equipment issues or situations arise so they can be repaired.
- Performs chemical receiving at designated treatment facilities.
- Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.
- Adheres to and promotes the Company safety policy and practices as it pertains to the job.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possess a valid T-2 Operator’s license desired or the ability to obtain within four years of date of employment.
- Accredited trade school electrical certification desired.
- Must maintain a valid Motor Vehicle License.
