Position Summary:
As part of our dedicated team, you'll be joining us as the Assistant Payroll Manager (APM), reporting directly to the Senior Director of Finance and Compliance (SDFC). Your primary role involves overseeing all aspects of payroll management for our employees and members, ensuring accurate calculations of wages, tax withholdings, and deductions. You'll act as a liaison between ACE program directors, staff, and our contracted payroll company, while also supporting various finance department initiatives to enhance administrative policies and systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage payroll processing systems to guarantee timely and precise transactions, encompassing salaries, benefits, taxes, and deductions.
Handle new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes efficiently.
Assist in enrolling new employees and members into our payroll systems.
Input weekly payroll data, tracking vacation and sick leave accruals.
Support in federal and state payroll tax preparation and filing.
Maintain accurate payroll records and reports.
Aid in coordinating employee benefits and retirement plans.
Ensure compliance with payroll laws and best practices.
Enhance systems to safeguard payroll-related confidentiality.
Assist with HR reporting, compliance, and unemployment claims.
Provide support for bi-weekly payroll processing.
Address payroll inquiries from staff and members.
Assist with user account management and security settings.
Facilitate audits by providing necessary documentation.
Manage off-boarding procedures for employees and members.
Identify and propose updates to payroll software and procedures.
Act as a resource for employees regarding payroll management.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business administration, human resources, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency in payroll processing, tax compliance, and multi-state payroll.
Advanced skills in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
Integrity and ability to handle sensitive information.
Flexibility to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Familiarity with office practices and records maintenance.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
