Troy Boiler Works, Inc., a family and union metal fabrication and boiler service and repair company, is looking for the right individual to pair with an experienced metal polisher to serve as his assistant and learn the trade through him to service a local pharmaceutical company on-site.
Qualifications
- We are looking for a reliable employee who will be dedicated to our team and job responsibilities. The employee must be self-driven, willing to learn and understand that this job will occasionally require flexibility in his/her schedule due to the fact that we must respond to our customers’ needs, which includes emergencies. Overtime will also be required on occasion.
- No experience is necessary, although certain attributes, such as good organizational skills, knowledge of documentation, working with computers/tablets, spreadsheets and other digital media are valuable. You will have to work with tools of the trade, grinders, polishers, electropolishers.
- There will be an initial period of on-line trade related and general safety training of approximately 1 week, together with a pre-employment physical prior to starting work in the field.
Job description
Work will involve organizing tools and work areas to allow for greater efficiencies in polishing by the Lead Polisher on your team. At the same time you will be instructed and learn this interesting and vital trade. Work will be done primarily in stainless steel. You will be expected to work safely and efficiently. You will certified to wear the correct personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection. You will be trained in confined space entry as working inside the stainless steel vessels and/or being an attendant outside the confined space, will occasionally be required. Industry specific tools and PPE will be provided free of charge.

- Shop pay of $23, with field pay (where you would be spending most of your time) of $41.85

Expected hours: 40 per week plus overtime
Schedule:
• 8 hour shifts (typical, but with exceptions)
• Day shift (typical, but can change with customers’ needs)
• Monday to Friday (typical, but can change with customers’ needs)
Work Location: Albany area
It is expected that applicants would have transportation and a legal automobile license in good standing to make it to work when required.
