About the Job
The assistant manager's duties are similar to those of the general manager in that the assistant manager is responsible for working with the manager to supervise the day-to-day operations of the restaurant. The assistant manager is expected to back up the general manager and do whatever is necessary to aid the manager in achieving the goals set for the restaurant.
Job Summary: The assistant general manager is responsible for training, directing, and assisting employees and for the overall operation of the restaurant under direct supervision of the general manager.
Responsibilities:
- Can perform all duties in the restaurant.
- Communicates with the general manager regarding all issues that happen on a shift.
- Responsible for quality leadership in the restaurant promoting positive employee morale. Leads by example.
- Serves as the manager on duty when the general manager is out.
- Manages staff and ensures checklist duties are complete.
- Is able to run the restaurant both front and back-of-house.
- Backs up all personnel as needed.
- Responsible for delegating responsibilities to team members.
- Responsible for taking physical inventory.
- Responsible for training staff on all positions.
- Ensures proper portioning.
- Ensures items on line are fresh and at appropriate temperatures.
- Ensures menu items are prepared properly.
- Monitors quality of food and maintains high standards of guest service.
- Delivers quality guest service and monitors the level of service throughout the restaurant.
- Adheres to company standards, including personal hygiene and appearance.
- Adheres to health and safety standards when handling food.
Qualifications:
- Possess excellent basic math skills and have the ability to operate a POS system.
- Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
- Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 30 pounds.
