About the Role
As an Assistant Manager, you will support the Office Manager in managing the administrative, financial, and operational aspects of the pediatric office, including the execution and implementation of best practices for staff and office management as directed by the guidelines and policies of the practice. You will achieve patient and organizational goals by effectively managing the offices processes and ensuring all pediatric staff are properly trained and confident in their position. You will work closely with the dental team, including dentists, assistants, and receptionists, as well as upper management to ensure smooth office operations, high levels of patient care, and efficient business practices.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily pediatric office operations, supervise staff, and lead staff meetings as needed, in collaboration with the operations manager and human resources.
- Maintain an organized and productive office schedule to ensure the dentist's day runs smoothly.
- Manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and efficiency.
- Coordinate ordering of office and clinical supplies.
- Model proper workflow procedures for all new and existing staff members.
- Provide consistent coaching and mentoring to the team to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Meet deadlines and keep the office manager informed of progress, timelines, and any issues.
- Lead daily huddles and meetings as required.
- Serve as the point of contact for support in creating and maintaining department procedures and workflows.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of the initial online assessment provided during the application process.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in business administration or healthcare management is a plus.
- Minimum 2 yrs Dental experience is required; pediatric experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend) and familiarity with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially when interacting with children and families.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting both clinical and administrative functions.
- Positive, friendly attitude with a strong commitment to delivering excellent patient care.
