The Assistant Manager of Engineering is responsible for the oversight of engineering and maintenance teams across the resort. The Assistant Manager ensures that all guest repair requests are responded to and repaired promptly. Communicate with all guests and customers in a professional and courteous manner in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
Key Responsibilities include:
Leadership and Oversight:
- Work closely with the Director of Engineering, providing support and overseeing members of the engineering/maintenance teams.
Guest Repair Requests:
- Respond promptly to all guest repair requests, maintaining clear communication with guests and customers throughout the process.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform maintenance tasks on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and visually inspecting for any issues.
Equipment Operation and Inventory:
- Carry necessary equipment such as radios, tools, and related items.
- Identify, locate, and operate shut-off isolation valves for equipment and utility shut-offs for buildings.
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
Communication and Documentation:
- Communicate all shift activities and issues verbally and in writing, adhering to engineering pass-on log standards.
- Document all maintenance activities and problems to facilitate effective communication with other shift engineers.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrate knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge in various areas, including HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and kitchen equipment maintenance.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and kitchen equipment.
- Test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on various equipment types, such as plumbing, electrical switches, and guestroom devices.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow documented Lockout/Tagout procedures before performing maintenance work on equipment with an energy source.
- Perform repairs on landscaping sprinklers and follow all company safety and security policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 50lbs, with heavier lifting or movement tasks performed with assistance.
- Navigate stairs, service ramps, and ladders, reaching overhead and below the knees while bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
Computer Skills:
- Display basic computer skills, including inputting information into the engineering building maintenance system.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform any other reasonable job duties as requested by management, contributing to the overall maintenance and operation of the property.
What you will bring:
- Three to five years' previous maintenance experience is required, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds. Physical requirements include but are limited to prolonged walking and standing, bending, and stooping.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
