About the Job
The Assistant Manager of Environmental Services will assist the Manager of Environmental Services to provide leadership and oversight of the department. This person will assist Environmental Services with the day-to-day operations of the department and ensure a consistently high level of cleanliness.
Responsibilities
- The Assistant Manager performs and leads teams in housekeeping and laundry activities on varying shifts as needed.
- Performs housekeeping and laundry job assignments and has the ability to operate a variety of industrial cleaning and laundry equipment.
- In the absence of the Department Manager, the Assistant Manager assumes the responsibility of managing the daily operations of the department according to policies, procedures, and federal/state requirements.
- Assists with interviewing, training, quality control, and in-servicing of staff.
- The Assistant Manager will have working knowledge and understanding of scheduling and labor management.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Two years of experience in Environmental Services in a healthcare environment and personnel supervision is desired.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Ability to understand and place into action basic infection control procedures.
- The ability to handle and mix chemicals safely and properly.
- Ability to work all shifts as needed.
- Knowledge of Environmental Services, laundry, and floor care program requirements preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work around cleaning chemicals and dust, blood and other bodily fluids, and biohazardous waste
- Must have the physical strength, coordination, and stamina sufficient to perform assigned duties.
- Must be able to push, lift, carry and set down objects of moderate weight on a daily basis.
- Must be able to grasp broom and map handles, and climb stairs, step stools, and ladders on a daily basis.
- Annual influenza vaccine required.
