The Assistant Manager guides store staff to provide an exceptional guest experience through merchandising, pricing, and maintaining store cleanliness and organization. The Assistant Manager ensures the adherence of all Company/Store policies, including loss prevention, age-restricted sales, and brand and image standards. In the absenceof the Store Manager the Assistant Manager is required to assume the duties and responsibilities of the Store Manager.
Principle Responsibilities:
· Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by providing a welcoming and friendly environment which includes greeting and thanking every guest and encouraging all staff to do the same.
· Execute True North Ready duties and ensure that all shifts are meeting the True North Ready Standards.
· Maintain an awareness of monthly promotions, sale merchandise and advertisements, and communicate them to entire staff. Complete monthly blitz execution as needed.
· Receive deliveries from vendors and verify accuracy of inventory along with authorization in price book.
· Address staff compliance issues as needed, both directly and by bringing issues to the Store Manager. Review video to confirm policy compliance on all shifts.
· Assist with the recruiting of new staff, as well as the training and development of all employees.
· Properly address any guest issues or complaints and escalate to the Store Manager when appropriate.
· Audit for accuracy all shift reports from the previous day. Correct as necessary and train or retrain as appropriate.
· Complete competitor price surveys and execute price changes.
· Run daily reports, reconcile shift sheets, complete e-store reporting, and prepare and transport bank deposit.
· Perform seasonal duties as needed, such as shoveling of snow on walkways and around pumps, as well as painting of exterior and interior surfaces.
Essential Skills and Requirements:
· Ability to effectively supervise and motivate others
· Process information and merchandise through EPOS, to include: retrieving reports, processing credit card transactions, and operating lottery machine.
· Communicate clearly with other employees and guests.
· React calmly in the event of an emergency situation.
· Read, count, and write to accurately manage store operations.
· Take responsibility for transport of bank deposit
· Freely access all areas of the store including coolers, stock areas, and register area.
· Work in cold conditions for long periods of time while stocking and cleaning the cooler.
· Move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 25 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
· Stand for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours.
· Ability to work flexible schedule, primarily opposite of the Store Manager, which may include first, second and occasionally third shift
Minimum Qualifications:
· Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
· Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Must have a vehicle (in order to complete banking)
· Previous experience supervising others is preferred
