Job Description:

       JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the CW & Slitter Manager, the Assistant will direct daily activities of scheduling, planning, and coaching.  A successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills and the desire to learn all facets of Departmental functions and asset management.

       JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
• Assist in the management and direction of day-to-day operations of the Continuous Weld Mill and Slitter.
• Coordinates with Production Planning to ensure production requirements and priorities are achieved.
• Provides direction to Supervisors and Hourly Teammates to achieve objectives. Coaches and mentors Teammates to align with goals and objectives.
• Manages with focus on KPI’s – Safety, Quality, Operational & Financial metrics, and Yield.
• Promotes safe practices. Holds Teammates accountable for adherence to Safety Requirements.
• Performs various reporting functions associated with operational performance & KPI’s.
• Utilizes SAP for monitoring departmental financials and steel inventory functions.
• Fosters innovative ideas and drives continuous improvement for year-over-year improvements and facilitates strategic projects & Capital investments.
• Assists in CW furnace refractories management and best practices. Assists with dig-out & rebuild of refractories.
• Purchases and coordinates goods and services from suppliers and contactors to meet Departmental needs.
• Assists in the management of Slitter tooling, set-ups, production plans and scheduling.
• Assists with CW Mill tooling management, including the coordination of regrind functions with the supplier.
• Regular, full-time predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of this role.

       EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of five years Supervisory experience with preference leading in the Pipe & Tube Industry.

       KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES

• Strong leadership skills with ability to communicate on many levels. Ability to motivate Team members to achieve objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, use good judgement, manage & prioritize effectively.
• Must be process oriented with demonstrated attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to complete assignments or projects on time.
