About Childress Hall:
Childress Hall is an exclusive private 36-hole links-style golf course with 1 accompanying 9-hole Par 3 course located in northwest Texas, just outside the town of Childress. The first course, designed by Tom Doak, was recently completed, and construction of the second golf course, designed by Gil Hanse, began this fall. The Club and courses will take full advantage of its location along the Prairie Dog Town Fork of The Red River on the western edge and the sand dunes on the eastern edge reminiscent of Scotland. Childress Hall will be a destination Club with 150 members with lodging and airport access 10 minutes from the Club.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will be an integral part of the construction and grow-in of the second course and its ongoing maintenance. Responsibilities will include assisting in the oversight of golf course construction, grow-in, and maintenance, including operations, conditions, management, preparations, and improvements. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will fulfill these responsibilities as a hands-on leader through positive and effective leadership by developing, training, managing, overseeing, coaching, and motivating the golf course team.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the oversight and management of course construction, ensuring the course is being constructed per specifications, on budget, and on time, and identifying and recommending corrective action as necessary.
- Leading and assisting the team, delegating and assigning daily assignments, providing guidance, training, coaching, and assistance, and ensuring work is completed as expected and in a timely manner.
- Assisting and managing the implementation of the agronomic plan and budget for the course and grounds.
- Identifying, evaluating, and recommending corrective action for agronomic problem areas, including funguses, pests, and drainage issues.
- Planning, directing, and assisting with the daily set-up and maintenance of the course, including routine course maintenance, chemical applications, and equipment operations.
- Inspect irrigation systems, identify issues, and implement corrective action.
- Assisting in the recommendation, evaluation, planning, and implementation of long-term and short-term projects related to the course's renovations, repairs, and maintenance.
- Identifying preventative measures, assessing turf damage, and recommending, implementing, and overseeing the application and treatment of pesticides, fertilizers, and nutrients.
- Ensuring chemicals, petroleum, and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of following local, state, and federal regulations; maintaining required records and striving to minimize the use of chemicals and petroleum products.
- Overseeing accurate and complete record-keeping for course maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, inventory, weather, timekeeping, and payroll for the team.
- Educating and ensuring the team is aware of and follows safe work practices, and maintaining facilities and equipment that are safe, clean, and organized.
Qualifications:
- Golf course maintenance experience in providing exceptional course conditions.
- Knowledge of pest control products and their applications.
- Knowledge of turf chemical and fertilizer products and their applications.
- Knowledge of irrigation utilization, drainage installation, repair, and maintenance.
- A current state pesticide applicator license or the ability to acquire a license.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor’s, Associate's, or Certification in turf grass management or related experience.
