A new concept coming to The Wharf in Washington, DC is seeking an Assistant General Manager to join their team!
This restaurant celebrates the heritage and traditions of fishing. Located on the waterfront at the southern end of The Wharf, it is designed to cater to locals and residents of DC, alongside the many seasonal visitors. This location will include a large bar, main dining room, seasonal outdoor terrace, and three private dining rooms, offering opportunity for unique and exciting experiences.
The assistant general manager (AGM) will assist the general manager to ensure that day-to-day business operations of the restaurant run smoothly. The AGM is to serve as a second in command for decision making, scheduling, guest relations, and restaurant upkeep. Th AGM also actively contributes to any project planning and the development of processes and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure strict adherence to company policies, protocols, and safety standards
- Supervise day-to-day shift activities of all staff and floor operations
- Ensure all staff are properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their job function
- Responsible for maintaining high level of service, food, and beverage quality
- Assist with all aspects of service during the shift and in preparation of it
- Perform opening and closing operational and administrative duties
- Support Chef with menu adjustments and education
- Schedule staff under the supervision of the General Manager
- Actively communicate anticipated labor costs and needs to General Manager and HR
- Auditing and correction of time keeping records
- Aid in restaurant supplies and tools inventory control
- Actively coach and train staff
- Participate in employee review processes
- Adjusting POS system to reflect menu, beverage, or dining space changes
- Assists in the management and supervision of Floor Managers
- Lead meeting and training sessions as needed
- Timely management of guest complaints, recovery, and feedback
- Communicate guest feedback to entire management team
- Aid in the planning, execution, servicing, and administration of full-site buyout events in coordination with the General Manager and Events Manager
- Assist in the execution of large party bookings in coordination with the Maître D and Events Manager as needed
- Effective team communication that fosters teamwork
- Maintain a positive work relationship with staff and motivate staff, especially during difficult times
- Assist with bar service, accountability, structure, and standards as needed
- Efficient provisioning and purchasing of restaurant supplies
- Work with HR in the sourcing, hiring, and on-boarding of employees
- Assist the General Manager with financial forecasting, P&L, and cost management as needed
- Physical Requirements - Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, - Must be able to lift 30 lbs, must be able to perform repetitive bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting of products and supplies
