JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Manager will assist the General Manager with overseeing and managing the daily operations of Jersey Mike’s.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITIES
· Hires and trains staff.
· Organizes and oversees the staff schedules.
· Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
· Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with policy.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Oversees food preparation, ensuring compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards.
· Ensures customer satisfaction with all aspects of the restaurant and dining experience.
· Estimates food and beverage costs.
· Manages inventory and purchases food and supplies.
· Conducts daily inspection of restaurant and equipment to ensure compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards.
· Periodically evaluates restaurant equipment for repairs and maintenance; schedules for service.
· Maintains sales records and tracks cash receipts.
· Prepares and submits operations reports and other documentation requested by the General Manager.
· Handles customer concerns and complaints professionally and calmly to resolve problems according to Jersey Mike's standards and policy.
· Greets customers, record orders, and serve food and beverages with a consistently positive and helpful attitude, including answering questions about the menu.
· Inputs orders into a point-of-sale system and accept payment using a credit card reader or cash register, calculating change accurately and quickly as required.
· Works together with the line team to prepare cold and hot subs to customer specifications, while following cooking instructions, safety procedures, and sanitary requirements.
· Uses specific kitchen machinery such as knives, grills, slicers, etc.
· Ensures restaurant cleanliness daily by clearing and wiping tables, sweeping, and mopping floors, washing, and sanitizing kitchen utensils, and servicing restrooms.
· Maintains a neat and tidy appearance by wearing required uniform and adhering to a corporate dress code.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
· Excellent time management skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Familiarity with food handling, safety, and other restaurant guidelines.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Previous restaurant experience required; management experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Prolonged periods standing and walking.
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to access and navigate all areas of restaurant.
· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
· May be required work in excessive heat and cold in association with the kitchen environment.
