The Assistant General Counsel, Cyber and Technology will drive legal strategies at the forefront of technology and innovation, offering expert guidance on advanced cybersecurity and AI matters. This critical role encompasses advising on multi-jurisdictional compliance, mitigating legal risks, establishing governance frameworks, and managing technology-related contracts. The ideal candidate brings extensive expertise in cybersecurity law, coupled with exceptional problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities. This position plays a vital role in navigating and influencing the dynamic legal landscape of AI and cybersecurity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on cyber security and technology-related matters, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Intellectual Property (IP).
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations in the jurisdictions in which Maximus operates.
- Assist with managing cybersecurity incidents and relevant crisis management team activities
- Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with cybersecurity and technology operations.
- Develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures to manage these risks effectively.
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts related to technology procurement, software licensing, and service agreements.
- Ensure that contracts comply with legal standards and protect the organization's interests.
- Monitor and analyze developments in the AI and cybersecurity legal environments, including but not limited to the AI legal environment in the United States (Federal and State), Canada, and United Kingdom and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) 2.0 and other similar requirements.
- Keep the business informed and compliant with current and emerging legal requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in any state.
- Extensive experience in cybersecurity and technology law.
- Experience managing a software governance process and an AI governance process.
- Experience with litigation related to IP or cybersecurity a plus.
- Proven track record of managing complex legal issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Strong collaborator with other functional areas, including but not limited to Procurement, Contracts, Litigation, Privacy, Information Security, and Information Technology
- Ability to stay updated with the latest developments in cybersecurity and technology law.

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience. An applicant's salary history will not be used in determining compensation. Maximus will comply with regulatory minimum wage rates and exempt salary thresholds in all instances.
