BASIC FUNCTIONS: Provides positive learning experiences associated with the sports program. Provide guidance, leadership, and the fundamental skills necessary to execute the program in a successful manner. Assume the leadership role in relation to team organization, style of play, practice schedules, equipment and assigned responsibilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach basic fundamentals necessary for successful participation
Provide the necessity for practice and supervision in order for continued improvement
Teach responsibilities of rules and regulations, care of equipment and facilities, fair play, respect for others, personal hygiene and safety
Hold necessary practices to prepare players for competition
Reflect enthusiasm for the program and participants in order to make it a worthwhile endeavor for students and parents
Maintain equipment and prepare inventory
Follow school, district and W.I.A.A. rules and regulations
Head coach will assign duties for all assistants
Coordinate the program for all levels of the activity within the school
Conduct self in an ethical manner during practices and games and model and require discipline and ethical behavior from players
Monitor and enforce scholastic eligibility of players
Supervise players at contest, in locker room and to and from games
Continually update techniques and skills through course work and clinics
Complete pre-season and post-season duties in a timely and efficient manner
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Demonstrated knowledge of fundamentals of the game/sport, practice organization, rules and safety and game management
Demonstrated ability to develop positive relations with assistants, players, opposing coaches, teams, umpires, staff, parents and the community
Ability to organize and demonstrate skills to both assistants and athletes
Ability to communicate in a positive manner with the media and the public
Ability to motivate a variety of individual personalities toward a successful and positive learning/playing experience
Ability to analyze the game and to create appropriate training sessions that reflect those observations
Model appropriate behavior to students and spectators
Allow involvement and decision-making of players and student participants to the degree appropriate
Encourage and recognize positive conduct at student activities
Model sportsmanlike conduct in dealing with officials and opponents regardless of the circumstances
Teach rules, skills, and strategies to ensure student participants thoroughly understand the game/activity
Review and assess the co-curricular program according to an established cycle in order to provide excellence in program and enhance student development
Previous coaching experience specific to open position desired
Must possess First Aid/CPR card
Have general knowledge of training techniques and care of injuries
Willingness to maintain and improve knowledge through regular course work and clinics
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents and community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 19 years of age or older for assistant coach position.
Must be 21 years of age or older for head coach position.

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, long term disability and basic life insurance benefits.
