About the Job
The Family Advocacy Attorney is responsible for providing guidance and counseling to TCFSH clients, family and staff on how to best navigate the social and legal issues faced by TCFSH to clients and their families. The Family Advocacy Attorney will serve as a consultant and advocate for TCFSH families and staff as noted above consistent with the mission, values, and strategic objectives of the organization. The Family Advocacy Attorney will not serve as legal counsel for TCFSH, that responsibilty will remain with Nationwide Children's Hospital, Inc?s Legal Department.

Responsibilities:- Interviews and provides guidance to TCFSH'S clients and their families, and assists clients and staff with relevant referrals and agency applications.
- Consults with TCFSH staff regarding environmental, social and legal issues related to TCFSH clients/families and assists with problem solving on those issues.
- Provides direct legal representation of TCFSH clients as requested by TCFSH.
- Acts as liaison between the clients and referral agencies.
- Develops relationships with relevant community resources in order to support clients and assist in navigating community systems.
- Maintains appropriate records and participates in data collection relevant to and duties, including conflict of interest rules for Ohio attorneys.
- Provides input into TCFSH policies, procedures, and processes when requested.
- Participates in internal and external committees and meetings as deemed appropriate, attends required training, and maintains current knowledge of relevant procedures.
- Completes, on a timely basis, projects as assigned by TCFSH.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Education:
- Juris Doctorate and licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio
Experience:
- Five years experience as an attorney with at least 3 years of experience in the area of domestic violence and family law preferred.
- Demonstrates the ability to collaborate across a multidisciplinary system.
- Demonstrates awareness of diversity issues and provides culturally sensitive services to clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers, and to work as a part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to manage confidential information in a complex hospital environment.
Minimum Physical Requiremnts:
- Sitting Constantly (67 - 100%)
- Talking on the phone and in person frequently (34 - 66%)
- Typing on a word processor occasionally (0 - 33%)
- Walking/Standing Occasionally (0 - 33%)
