Responsibilities:New York Institute of Technology seeks an Assistant Director for Student Life for the Long Island campus. Reporting to the Associate Director, this person will:
- Serve as the Professional Advisor to the clubs and organizations on the Long Island campus.
- Develop and implements all student organization operations including officers’ trainings, organization registration and re-registration, and event review and approval.
- Oversee the functions of Fraternity and Sorority Life, including chapter accreditation programs, expansion, and organizational operations.
Assist with and manage a student recreation program using campus partners and local resources in the development and implementation for the Long Island Campus.
- Assist with supporting and staffing campus events.
- Support with planning and day-of operations of the Office of Student Life. Develops Student Life related projects that may include marketing, social media, student and staff training, programming and development.
- Coordinate student spirit, history, and tradition initiatives in collaboration with students, staff, faculty and external partners that support the initiatives of the New York Tech.
- Participate and be an active participant in campus-wide committees as approved by supervisor.
- Expected to be available for night and weekend work/activities/events as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by Director, Associate Director, Associate Dean, Dean of Students and Assistant Provost for Student Engagement and Development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree is required.
A Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Student Affairs or other closely related field.
Experience leading in areas related to student leadership development, student involvement, or related fields.
Knowledge of student affairs and student programming and leadership development.
Knowledge of working in a complex organizational culture as well as working with a diverse student population
Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to lead initiatives in an independent manner.

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.
